My story

Hi, I’m Natalya! I’m happiest in the garden, growing fruits, vegetables, and flowers to use in the kitchen with my husband, a farm-to-table chef, or hosting cozy dinner parties for friends.

My pottery journey began over a decade ago with four years of hand-building ceramic sculptures—each piece an expression of creativity and care. After an eight-year pause, I found my way back to clay when we moved to Knoxville, Tennessee. This time, I picked up the wheel and began crafting functional pottery for our home.

What started as a hobby quickly became a passion. My brother, one of my biggest supporters, always encouraged me to share my work. After his passing in 2024, I felt called to honor his memory by doing just that.

Grounded in a love for handmade, homegrown beauty, I bring the same intention to my pottery as I do to a lovingly prepared meal or a fresh-cut bouquet—creating with heart, and hoping it brings a little joy to yours.

Why Nirvelli

Nirvelli is a name that holds deep, personal significance. The word "Nirvana" embodies peace, tranquility, and spiritual enlightenment—qualities that reflect the connection I share with my brother, who was my best friend and my greatest supporter.

The "Velli" part of the name comes from the Italian word for "veil," representing something hidden or unseen. For me, it symbolizes the journey of uncovering beauty and serenity through my art, as well as the feeling that my brother is always with me, behind the veil, guiding my hand.

I also believe the signs I receive from him come in the form of dragonflies—symbols of transformation, freedom, and connection. With Nirvelli Ceramics, I’m not only sharing my pottery with the world but honoring the bond we still share.
